Three Days Grace es una banda de Metal Alternativo originaria de Ontario, Canadá. La banda fue fundada originalmente como Groundswell en 1997 por Adam Gontier, Brad Walst y Neil Sanderson. En 1992, Groundswell tenía como miembros a Gontier (voz), Walst (bajo), Sanderson (batería, teclados y coros), Phil Crowe y Joe Grant (guitarras). En 1995 la banda decidió mudarse a Toronto, donde firmó su primer contrato con la discográfica Jive Records. Durante esta etapa la banda solo grabaría un álbum, Wave of Popular Feeling, el cual recibiría críticas negativas y no obtendría mucho éxito, lo que más tarde provocaría la desintegración de la banda en 1997. Ese mismo año, los tres miembros restantes de la banda (Gontier, Walst y Sanderson) se reagruparon bajo su nombre actual.

Según Gontier, el nombre de la banda hace referencia a la pregunta "si tuvieras tres días para cambiar algo en tu vida, ¿qué sería?".
